In 2005, Sergey Polonsky launched the Federation Tower project — the first skyscraper in Russia to aim for global standards in height, scale, and engineering. At that time, Moscow’s construction industry was focused on mid-rise development, and there was no precedent for such a tall and complex structure. The project required approval of new vertical zoning regulations and introduced advanced construction logistics, such as deep pile foundations and multi-level underground infrastructure.
Key challenges solved:
Coordinating excavation near existing transport tunnels (Moscow City MIBC)
Approval of new high-rise construction norms in Russia
Engineering a foundation for a 500-meter-class tower
